Applemint is a sweet, aromatic plant that has a fruity aroma. Its leaves and stems are covered in fine hairs, giving it a wooly appearance. Its flavour is less minty than other culinary varieties making it great for cocktails, teas and desserts. They are also great for making meat sauces if you prefer a less minty taste.
It is in rich in Vitamins A, B2 and C. It also contains valuable minerals such as calcium, copper and magnesium.
Apple Mint
Trim the ends of the mint and place the mint stems in a glass of water. Ensure that no mint leaves are touching the water. Cover the whole jar including the leaves with a plastic bag and store in the refrigerator.
Alternatively, you may lay them out on a single layer of slightly damp paper towel / kitchen towel, roll the towel up loosely and place it in a plastic big. Store in refrigerator.
You may also choose to store the mint leaves in the freezer directly.
